Key takeaways

  • TikTok's Creator Rewards Program, Subscription and Video Gifts all ask for 10,000 followers and an adult account, and the Creator Rewards Program is open in only eight countries (checked on October 29, 2026).
  • Below 10,000 followers you can still earn from brand deals, LIVE Gifts once you are 18, TikTok Shop affiliate in the US from 1,000 followers, and whatever you offer through a link to a site or community you own.
  • TikTok bans trading anything for follows, likes or views, so any rewards program, including an offerwall, belongs on your own site, app, Discord or Telegram and must never pay for engagement on TikTok.

How to monetize TikTok without 10K followers

TikTok’s own payout programs mostly start at 10,000 followers: the Creator Rewards Program, Subscription and Video Gifts all require it, and you must be 18 or older. Before that, you can earn from LIVE Gifts once you are 18, from brand deals at any size, from TikTok Shop affiliate commissions in the US once you have 1,000 followers, and from anything you run off TikTok, such as affiliate links, your own products, or a community with a rewards program. What you cannot do is pay or reward anyone for follows, likes or views.

Every requirement below comes from TikTok’s Help Center, Creator Academy and TikTok Shop Academy, checked on October 29, 2026. TikTok changes these programs often and many of them depend on your country, so confirm in TikTok Studio under Monetization before you plan around a number.

TikTok monetization requirements in 2026

Here is what each program asks for, from TikTok’s pages as of October 29, 2026:

Subscription

TikTok’s Creator Academy guide to setting up your Subscription lists the four requirements in the table. Subscribers pay a monthly price you choose from $2.99 to $99.99 (the default is $5.99), in their local currency. According to the Subscription overview, you receive 70% of the revenue after app store fees, with a possible 20% bonus (up to 90%) in months when you meet the follower and view thresholds and post enough sub-only videos. TikTok also runs Super Fan, a separate subscription that the same page says is exclusive to LIVE.

Video Gifts and LIVE Gifts

Gifts are virtual items viewers buy with Coins and send to you; you collect Diamonds. TikTok’s Help Center page on Video Gifts lists the requirements in the table and excludes Duets, Stitches and sponsored videos. For LIVE, TikTok’s LIVE monetization guide says you collect Diamonds “based on how popular your LIVE content is”, subject to TikTok’s Virtual Items Policy. The Going LIVE guide says you must be 18 or meet the age of majority in your country to go LIVE. Viewers have an age rule too: the Help Center page on Gifts and Coins says you must be at least 18 (19 in South Korea) to access Coins and Gifts.

TikTok Shop affiliate

The US Creator Eligibility Policy (dated September 25, 2026) says Affiliate Creators self-apply with at least 1,000 followers, must be 18 or older and based in the United States, and must pass identity verification. Affiliates earn commissions on products sold through product links in videos, LIVE sessions and the showcase on their profile. Under 5,000 followers you start in the Affiliate Creator Pilot Program, limited to 3 shoppable videos per day and 3 LIVE selling streams per week. Graduation needs 5,000 followers, at least 30 days in the program, and a clean Creator Health Rating, then a quiz. Other countries publish their own Shop policies, so read the one for your market.

How the Creator Rewards Program works

The Creator Rewards Program pays per qualified view on videos longer than one minute. TikTok’s Creator Rewards Program help page explains the rules that trip people up:

  • Only new, original videos count. A video must be uploaded after you join, filmed and produced by you, and at least one minute long. Duets, Stitches, reposts with small edits, slideshows of photos, and videos with copyrighted music playing for over a minute do not qualify.
  • Earnings start at 1,000 qualified For You feed views. A qualified view is unique, watched for more than 5 seconds, and not paid, promoted, fraudulent or marked “not interested”.
  • Sponsored videos earn nothing here. Ads, paid promotions and sponsored content are excluded, so a brand deal and Creator Rewards never pay on the same video.
  • Pay has two parts. The Standard Reward is based on qualified views and rewards per 1,000 qualified views (RPM). The Additional Reward depends on how well-crafted, engaging and specialized the content is. TikTok does not publish a fixed rate.

Location matters twice. The Creator Academy article on the program (last updated September 11, 2026) lists the eight countries in the table, and says qualified views must also come from those countries. A creator in an eligible country whose viewers mostly live elsewhere will see far fewer qualified views than their view count suggests.

Apply in the app under TikTok Studio, then Creator Rewards Program. TikTok says it replies in about 3 days, and you can appeal a rejection within 30 days.

What you can earn before 10,000 followers

For most small accounts the honest answer is that TikTok itself pays little or nothing yet. These are the routes that open earlier:

  1. Brand deals. No follower minimum. Use the disclosure setting described below.
  2. LIVE Gifts. Open once you can go LIVE. Only adult viewers can send Gifts, so this suits an older audience.
  3. TikTok Shop affiliate. In the US from 1,000 followers, with Pilot Program limits until 5,000.
  4. Affiliate links off TikTok. Merchant programs pay per sale through a link on your own page.
  5. Your own offer. Coaching, presets, templates, a course or a paid newsletter.
  6. A community. A Discord server, Telegram channel or website, monetized with sponsors, subscriptions or an offerwall.

The first three depend on TikTok’s rules and your country. The last three work anywhere, at any follower count. If you live outside the eight Creator Rewards countries, or outside the US for Shop, they are your main option, not a backup.

Move your audience to something you own

A TikTok follower sees you only when the For You feed shows them your videos. A member of your Discord, Telegram channel or mailing list is reachable whenever you want, and no follower threshold applies there.

  • A link in bio to your own site. One page with your newsletter sign-up, your products, the affiliate links you recommend and links to your community. TikTok’s Creator Rewards page lists a profile with personal or business contact information as ineligible, so keep phone numbers and email addresses out of your bio if you plan to join.
  • A Discord server. Good for gaming, study, trading-card or hobby niches where people want to talk to each other. How to monetize a Discord server covers Server Subscriptions, sponsors and a points system, and How to get more Discord members covers growth.
  • A Telegram channel. Good for deals, tips and daily updates. How to monetize a Telegram channel explains the options.

Give viewers a reason to come with you, such as the full tutorial or the template from the video. Never a reward for following you on TikTok, as explained below. For growing the TikTok account itself without shortcuts, see How to grow social media followers without fake ones.

Affiliate links and brand deals: disclose every time

TikTok’s Creator Academy article on creating branded content says that when you post content promoting a brand, product or service, including your own business, you must turn on the content disclosure toggle. TikTok then labels the post “Paid partnership” for another company’s brand or “Promotional content” for your own, and says undisclosed content may not be eligible for the For You feed. TikTok One is the platform where brands and creators find each other for campaigns.

The law asks for the same thing. The US Federal Trade Commission’s Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers says to disclose any financial relationship with a brand, including free products, and that on video the disclosure belongs in the video itself, not only in the description. Affiliate disclosure rules has example wording for TikTok.

Affiliate links pay when someone buys; an offerwall pays when someone completes an offer. Offerwall vs affiliate links compares them, and CPA marketing for beginners explains the terms.

What TikTok bans: rewarding follows, likes and views

TikTok’s Integrity and Authenticity guidelines do not allow “the trade of services that artificially boost engagement or trick the recommendation system”. They also say content that tries to manipulate people into giving gifts or inflating likes or follows is not eligible for the For You feed, and that TikTok removes fake likes, followers and other inflated signals. For deceptive behavior TikTok may ban or restrict the account.

The money programs repeat it. The Creator Rewards Program rules forbid acquiring fake video views, inflating follower counts, or tampering with the reward or recommendation system. TikTok’s Creator Code of Conduct, which applies to Creator Rewards, Subscription, LIVE gifting and TikTok Shop, lists fake engagement and misleading solicitation of engagement or gifts as prohibited.

Never do this on TikTok

Giving points, coins, game items, gift cards or entries for following, liking, commenting, sharing, watching or sending Gifts; buying followers, views or “engagement packages”; like-for-like and follow-for-follow groups; paid task sites that ask people to follow or watch you; and asking viewers to watch your videos in exchange for credit on your website. Each one is the kind of trade or manipulation TikTok’s rules forbid, and it can cost you the account and every program on it.

Your community can earn your currency, but never for anything they do on TikTok. Incentivized traffic explained covers which goals a rewarded user suits and why engagement is not one of them.

Where an offerwall fits, and where it does not

An offerwall cannot go inside a TikTok video, a TikTok LIVE or your TikTok profile. It lives on a property you control: your website, your app, a Discord bot or a Telegram Mini App. Members open it there, complete offers from advertisers, such as installing a game and reaching a level or answering a survey, and earn your community’s currency. You earn a payout for each completed offer. What is an offerwall? explains the model.

It fits a creator with a community that wants points, such as a gaming Discord with a reward shop or a website with member accounts. It does not fit a TikTok account with no community behind it, and it is not a way to monetize views.

Rules for a clean setup:

  1. No points for TikTok actions. Members earn only by completing offers on your wall, never for follows, likes, views, comments or Gifts.
  2. Members must be 16 or older. Ask for age at sign-up and require parental permission under 18.
  3. Describe it honestly. “Earn points in my Discord by trying games and surveys” is accurate. “Free money” is not. Promoting your offerwall: allowed and prohibited ways has wording you can copy.
  4. Disclose if you feature one offer in a video. If you play a game on TikTok because its offer pays you, that is promoting a product, so turn on the disclosure setting.
  5. Fixed prices, not raffles. Redeem points for set rewards, and do not frame offers as giveaways or chances to win.

Illustrative example: pricing a Discord reward shop

Sample figures only. You credit members 600 points for every $1 an offer pays you. An offer that pays you $2.00 credits a member 1,200 points. If a $5 game gift card costs 6,000 points, a member needs offers that paid you $10 to redeem it, so half of what those offers earned funds the reward and half stays with you. Try your own rate and split in the virtual currency calculator, and read How to set your virtual currency exchange rate.

Credit points only from a signed postback on your server, take them back when an offer is reversed, and allow one account per person. How to add an offerwall to a Discord bot and How to add an offerwall to a Telegram Mini App cover the setup, and Stop multi-accounting and VPN abuse covers fraud.

How to add Sharklio to your TikTok community

Sharklio never goes on TikTok itself: it goes on the site, server or app where your followers already gather.

  1. Pick the home for the wall: a website with member accounts, a Discord server with a bot, or a Telegram Mini App. Not your profile, a video or a LIVE.
  2. Apply as a publisher at sharklio.com. Every application is reviewed by hand, and once you are approved, apps you add are live right away.
  3. Add that site or app in the dashboard and set the points name, icon, conversion rate, user split and wall design.
  4. Connect it. On a website, add the floating Earn button or a signed offerwall link. On Discord, an /earn command sends a link signed for the member’s site account, never their Discord ID. In Telegram, open the wall from your Mini App.
  5. Credit points only from the signed postback on your server, and only for completed offers, never for follows, likes, views or Gifts. What is a postback URL? explains the flow.
  6. Check your setup with Test your app before launch, then tell followers where your community is, without a reward for following you.

A rewards program for your community, off TikTok

Sharklio is a pay-per-result affiliate network for creators whose audience gathers on a website, app, Discord or Telegram. Offers depend on each member’s country and device, members must be 16 or older, and VPN, proxy, Tor and data center traffic is blocked from the wall. See how the wall works, or get in touch with questions before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

How many followers do you need to get paid on TikTok?

The Creator Rewards Program, Subscription and Video Gifts all need 10,000 followers. TikTok Shop affiliate in the US opens at 1,000, and brand deals have no minimum.

What are the TikTok Creator Rewards Program requirements?

You need to be 18 or older (19 in South Korea), have a Personal Account in good standing, 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and be based in one of the eligible countries. Videos must be original and at least one minute long.

Which countries have the TikTok Creator Rewards Program?

As of October 29, 2026, TikTok lists the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil. Qualified views must also come from those countries.

Can you make money on TikTok with 1,000 followers?

Yes, mostly outside TikTok’s payout programs: brand deals, LIVE Gifts if you are 18, TikTok Shop affiliate in the US, and affiliate links or products on your own site.

Can I pay people or give rewards to follow me on TikTok?

No. TikTok’s Community Guidelines forbid trading services that artificially boost engagement and remove fake likes and followers, and the Creator Rewards rules ban inflating follower counts.

Do sponsored TikTok videos earn Creator Rewards?

No. TikTok excludes ads, paid promotions and sponsored content from the Creator Rewards Program, so a sponsored video earns only what the brand pays.

Can I put an offerwall on TikTok?

Not on TikTok itself. An offerwall runs on your own website, app, Discord or Telegram, for members 16 and older, and members earn your currency only by completing offers, never for activity on TikTok.
