Best Discord Bots to Grow Your Server in 2026

Key takeaways

  • Set up Discord's own AutoMod, Raid Protection, Rules Screening and Onboarding first, then add a bot only for a job those tools do not cover.
  • Most good bots are free for the basics, and paid tiers mostly raise limits or add branding, so pick by the job you need done rather than by feature lists.
  • Add bots only from their official site or the App Directory, give each one the fewest permissions it needs, and keep its role below your moderators.

What are the best Discord bots to grow a server in 2026?

The best Discord bots are the ones that do one job you actually need: Dyno, Carl-bot or YAGPDB for moderation, Wick or Beemo for anti-raid, Captcha.bot or Double Counter for verification, Zira or Carl-bot for reaction roles, Arcane or Lurkr for leveling, Ticket Tool or Tickets for support, DISBOARD for listing, and Xenon for backups. Before you add any, switch on what Discord already gives you (AutoMod, Raid Protection, Rules Screening and Onboarding), which covers much of what older guides send you to bots for.

This is a list grouped by job, not a ranking. Every bot below had a working official site on October 20, 2026, and each free and paid tier comes from that bot’s own pricing page, checked on that date. Prices change often, so confirm on the official page before you pay.

Start with what Discord already does

Every bot is another account with permissions in your server, so use Discord’s own features where they fit. Several need a Community server; Discord’s Enabling Your Community Server article lists the requirements, including a verified-email verification level, the explicit media filter, and a rules channel.

  • AutoMod. Discord’s AutoMod FAQ says it is available for all servers. It has ready-made word lists, custom keyword rules of up to 1,000 terms each, a spam filter, and a mention spam limit. It can block a message, alert a mod channel, or time out the member. The word lists and spam filter only work in English.
  • Raid Protection and Security Actions. Discord’s raid protection guide says that when its system detects a join raid, it alerts a channel you choose and requires a CAPTCHA from new joiners for the next hour. Availability may still be limited. Security Actions, available to all servers, let you pause invites and DMs between members who are not friends while you deal with an incident.
  • Verification Levels. From Low (verified email) to Highest (verified phone number), per Discord’s Verification Levels page.
  • Rules Screening. For Community servers, new members must accept up to 16 rules before they can talk, react, or DM other members. The Rules Screening FAQ recommends it over bot role gates, because bot gates do not stop DMs to members.
  • Community Onboarding. New members answer a few questions and get matching roles and channels. The Onboarding FAQ says you need at least 7 default channels, with at least 5 that @everyone can view and post in.

If those cover your server, you may need only two or three bots. How to get more Discord members explains why onboarding is worth fixing before you promote anything.

“Premium” alone means the bot sells a paid tier but its public page showed no price. Some pages showed euros because of where we checked from.

Moderation, automod and anti-raid bots

Dyno

Dyno is an all-round bot with automod, custom commands, autoroles, reaction role menus, forms and tickets. Its upgrade page lists a free tier for everyone with limits such as 25 custom commands and 3 reaction role menus, and paid plans at $49.99, $59.99 or $99.99 a year (the first two cover one server). Paid plans add advanced automod, levels and social feeds.

Carl-bot

Carl-bot covers reaction roles, moderation with infraction history, automod for links, spam and mass mentions, logging, welcome messages and custom commands. It is free; Premium raises the limits and adds levels, sticky messages, temporary channels, and a custom avatar and banner.

YAGPDB and Sapphire

YAGPDB is a configurable bot with an automoderator, moderation tools, self-assignable roles, custom commands, and Reddit, YouTube and Twitch feeds. It is open source, its GitHub repository was still being updated in October 2026, and it sells an optional Premium tier. Sapphire calls itself completely free; the only paid part is Custom Branding, from €5 a month, to run it under your own name and avatar.

Wick and Beemo for raids and nukes

A raid is a flood of accounts joining at once; a nuke is a compromised admin or bot deleting channels and banning members. Wick focuses on both, with anti-raid, anti-nuke, and quarantining of suspicious accounts, plus a Premium tier. Beemo does one thing: it watches joins and bans accounts it detects as userbot raiders. Beemo’s site says anti-raid is free forever, and its docs say moderation, XP and its other extras need a paid Beemo Max subscription.

One moderation bot, one security bot

Pick one general moderation bot and, if your server is public, one dedicated anti-raid bot. Two bots that both act on spam fight each other and clutter your mod logs. Turn off overlapping modules and keep AutoMod as the first line.

Welcome, verification and reaction role bots

Verification: Captcha.bot and Double Counter

If Discord’s verification levels and Rules Screening are not enough, a verification bot makes new members pass a check before they get the member role. Captcha.bot’s pricing page lists a free plan with one verified role, a logs channel and web verification, and a paid plan at $4.99 a month or $55 a year with more roles, image verification and analytics. Double Counter checks new members for alt accounts and VPN use through a verification link; its docs say it only covers members who join after you add it. It is free with a paid Pro tier.

Keep the step short. Discord’s Onboarding FAQ warns that bot-powered verification steps confuse new members, and every extra click costs you some of them.

Welcome messages

Carl-bot, Dyno and Zira can post a welcome message when someone joins. Write it like a person: what the server is for, the one channel to post in first, and who to ask.

Reaction roles and button roles

Zira gives members roles from reactions, buttons or select menus, and also handles auto roles, voice roles, giveaways, polls, suggestions, and join and leave messages. Its site says all of that is free, and Premium (from $2 per 30 days per server, or $50 once) raises the limits. Carl-bot is the other common choice. On a Community server, try Onboarding questions first; they give roles at the moment someone joins.

Leveling and engagement bots

Leveling bots give members XP for chatting and can hand out roles at set levels. They help when the reward is recognition or access, such as a level 5 role that opens a media channel, and hurt when they turn chat into spam for points.

  • Arcane is built around leveling. Premium is $7 a month or $75 a year on its premium page.
  • Lurkr says all its features are free forever. Its Patreon tiers, $1 a month (Max) or $5 a month (Ultimate), only raise configuration limits, for example from 3 to 10 reward roles per level.
  • MEE6 is the best-known name. Check the plan before you build around it: on October 20, 2026, the comparison table on its premium page listed XP and Levels, welcome and goodbye messages, reaction roles, and the economy plugin under Premium only, not the free plan. Premium was sold monthly, yearly or as a lifetime plan, with a limited-time discount running.

Rewards app retention: bonuses, streaks and levels covers levels and streaks that bring people back without inviting farming, and How to grow an online forum or community covers getting newcomers to a first post.

Ticket, logging and backup bots

Tickets

A ticket bot opens a private channel between a member and your staff, so reports stay out of public chat. Ticket Tool is free with unlimited panels, transcripts and support roles, and Premium costs €7.12 a month for automation, full customization and DMs. Tickets is free with unlimited tickets, archives, forms and ticket claiming; Premium is $2.99 per server a month and adds statistics, autoclose and exit surveys.

Logging and backups

Carl-bot logs deleted and edited messages, joins, leaves, role changes, bans and invites, and can split them across channels. For backups, Xenon saves and restores your channels, roles and messages, so you can rebuild after a nuke. Its free plan keeps 15 backups, made every 24 hours, and paid plans start at $5.99 a month before VAT.

Discord’s own Server Integrations page lists every bot in your server, who added it and when, and the permissions it asked for. A server can have up to 50 integrations.

What about music bots?

Many guides still list music bots that no longer work. In 2021, Groovy and then Rythm shut down after Google told them to stop, citing YouTube’s terms of service, as 9to5Google reported. Some music bots still run, but on October 20, 2026 we could not confirm from their official pages which sources they play, so we do not recommend one.

Server listing and bumping

Listing sites help people find servers by topic. On DISBOARD, you add its bot and type /bump to move your listing up. The wait between bumps is 2 hours. DISBOARD Pro costs US$9 a month through Patreon and cuts the wait to 30 minutes while your server has had fewer than 12 bumps in the last 24 hours. Pro does not bump for you.

Read DISBOARD’s guidelines before you build a bump routine. They forbid auto-bump bots and scripts, and they say you may not reward or force users to do things on DISBOARD, such as bumping or posting a review. A reminder bot that pings a person when the cooldown ends is fine; points for each bump are not.

Discord itself treats paying or rewarding anyone for joining or inviting as platform manipulation; How to get more Discord members covers what is allowed and how to track which listing brings members who stay.

How to add Discord bots safely

A bot with the wrong permissions can do more damage than any raid. Use this checklist for every bot.

  1. Add it from the official source. Use the invite link on the bot’s own site or the App Directory in Discord. Popular bots are verified: Discord’s app verification page says an app must be verified to grow past 100 servers, and the owner has to verify their identity. An unverified bot with a famous name is almost certainly a copy.
  2. Never add a bot that contacts you first. Discord’s scam bots article says Discord has never made a bot that offers free products, that adding such bots will likely compromise your server, and that a bot asking to be added should be reported.
  3. Give the fewest permissions it needs. Only people with Manage Server can add a bot, and the bot asks for permissions when you add it. Discord’s roles and permissions guide says Administrator grants all permissions and bypasses every channel restriction, so give it only when a bot truly cannot work without it. A leveling bot needs Manage Roles, not Administrator.
  4. Get the role order right. Discord’s permissions documentation says a bot can only kick, ban or change nicknames for users whose highest role is lower than the bot’s, and can only hand out roles below its own. Put each bot’s role just above the roles it assigns and below your moderator and admin roles.
  5. Treat an account that looks like a bot as a person until proven otherwise. A real bot is added as an app by someone with Manage Server and shows up on the Integrations page. An account that joined through an invite and only calls itself a bot is a user, so never give it a role with Administrator or moderation permissions.
  6. Review your bots every few months. Remove bots nobody uses on the Integrations page.

Setups that get servers wrecked

Administrator on every bot “so it just works”, a bot role placed above your moderators, staff who can grant roles higher than their own, adding a bot because someone in your DMs promised free Nitro, and old bots nobody has checked in a year. Each turns one compromised account into a deleted server.

Members who farm rewards with alt accounts are a different kind of risk. Stop multi-accounting and VPN abuse covers the layers that work, for Discord communities as well as websites.

Letting members earn your server currency with the Sharklio offerwall

If your community runs a points economy, members can earn that currency on the Sharklio offerwall by completing offers, and you earn per completed offer. Pin a message that links to the earn page on your website, or add a bot command that replies privately with each member’s own signed link, built on your server from their account on your site (not their Discord ID, which Discord’s Developer Policy says bots may not share with monetization services). Log in with Discord links the two. You set the currency name, icon, rate and user split, and a signed postback tells your server about every credit and reversal. Members must be at least 16 (parental permission under 18), VPN and proxy users are blocked, and every publisher application is reviewed by hand. Never reward joins, invites or bumps; promoting your offerwall lists what is allowed. See how the wall works, read how to monetize a Discord server, or get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Discord bot for a new server?

There is no single best bot. Turn on AutoMod and Onboarding, add one moderation bot such as Dyno or Carl-bot, and add others only for a specific job.

Does Discord have a built-in moderation bot?

Yes. AutoMod is built into every server and can block flagged words, spam and mass mentions, alert your mods, and time out members.

Are Discord bots free?

Most popular bots have a free tier that covers the basics. Paid tiers usually raise limits or add custom branding, but some, like MEE6, keep core features such as leveling behind Premium.

Is it safe to give a Discord bot Administrator?

Avoid it. Administrator grants every permission and bypasses all channel restrictions, so a compromised bot could wreck your server. Give each bot only what its job needs.

Why can’t my bot give roles or ban members?

Its role is probably too low. A bot can only assign roles, kick or ban members whose highest role sits below the bot’s own highest role, so move the bot’s role up in Server Settings, Roles.

Can I reward members for bumping my server on DISBOARD?

No. DISBOARD’s guidelines say you may not reward or force users to bump or post reviews, and auto-bump bots are not allowed. A reminder that pings a person when the cooldown ends is fine.

Do Discord music bots still work?

Some run, but the large YouTube-based bots Groovy and Rythm shut down in 2021 after Google told them to stop, citing YouTube’s terms. Test any music bot before relying on it.
