Offerwall Says VPN or Proxy Detected?

The offerwall shows offers only on a normal home or mobile connection, because advertisers cannot track or reward visits that come through a VPN or proxy. Whether it says VPN or proxy detected or Network not supported, here is what to check to get back to your offers in a minute.

What to Check

Go through these one by one, and after each change close the offerwall, open it again, and tap Try again. Most people are back to their offers after the first two. Not sure where to find the setting? See where to turn off a VPN.

  1. Turn off your VPN app

On your phone and your computer. Many VPN apps reconnect by themselves, so check that the app says Disconnected, and turn off auto-connect or always-on VPN.

  2. Disable VPN and proxy browser extensions

Extensions that change your location or hide your address send your traffic through another server. Turn them off, or open the offerwall in a browser without them.

  3. Switch off built-in browser VPNs

Some browsers come with a free VPN or a secure network option in their settings. Turn it off for this site.

  4. Pause the VPN in your security app

Antivirus and security apps can include a VPN or a protected browsing mode. Pause that feature while you use the offerwall.

  5. Check proxy settings

Your phone, computer, or Wi-Fi network may have a proxy set up. In your network settings, set the proxy to off or automatic.

  6. Try another network

Work, school, hotel, and some public Wi-Fi networks route traffic through a proxy. Switch to your home Wi-Fi or to mobile data.

Where to Turn Off a VPN

Find your device, browser, or app below. Menu names can differ a little between versions.

  • NordVPN, Surfshark and others

    VPN apps

Open the app and tap Disconnect, then turn off Auto-connect or Connect on start in its settings so it does not switch itself back on. Common ones: NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark, Proton VPN, CyberGhost, Private Internet Access, Windscribe, TunnelBear, Hotspot Shield, Turbo VPN, and 1.1.1.1 with WARP.

  • Settings

    iPhone and iPad

Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN and make sure the status says Not Connected. If a VPN app is installed, disconnect it in the app too.

  • Settings

    Android

Go to Settings > Network & internet > VPN.
On Samsung phones: Settings > Connections > More connection settings > VPN.
Tap the gear next to the VPN, turn off Always-on VPN, then disconnect it.

  • Settings

    Windows

Go to Settings > Network & internet > VPN and disconnect. Then open Proxy on the same page and turn off Use a proxy server.

  • System Settings

    Mac

Go to System Settings > VPN and turn it off. Proxies are under System Settings > Network > your Wi-Fi > Details > Proxies, where every option should be off.

  • Opera, Edge, Brave, Tor

    Browsers with a built-in VPN

Opera: click the VPN badge in the address bar, or Settings > Privacy & security > VPN.
Microsoft Edge: Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Secure Network.
Brave: the VPN button in the toolbar.
Tor Browser always hides your address, so use a normal browser instead.

  • Chrome, Edge, Firefox

    Browser extensions

Chrome and Edge: Menu > Extensions > Manage extensions.
Firefox: Menu > Add-ons and themes > Extensions.
Turn off VPN and proxy extensions such as Hola, Urban VPN, Browsec, Touch VPN, ZenMate, SetupVPN, or the extension of your VPN app.

  • Norton, Avast, AVG and others

    Antivirus and security apps

Many security apps include a VPN, for example Norton Secure VPN, Avast SecureLine, AVG Secure VPN, Kaspersky VPN, Bitdefender VPN, and McAfee VPN. Open the app and turn the VPN or secure connection off.

  • Managed devices

    Work, school, or shared devices

A phone or computer from your work or school may connect through a company VPN that you cannot turn off. Use your personal device instead. If you share internet from a phone hotspot, turn off the VPN on that phone too.

Home Internet Flagged as a Proxy?

Sometimes a normal home connection is flagged, for example when your internet provider shares one address between many customers, or when someone used your address before. These steps usually give you a clean address.

  1. Restart your router

Turn the router off, wait 5 to 10 minutes, then turn it back on. This often gives you a new public address, which usually fixes it.

  2. Renew your internet address

Open your router admin page, go to the Internet or WAN settings, and use Disconnect and Connect, or Renew IP, to get a new address.

  3. Check for a shared address

If the WAN address shown in your router starts with 10., 100.64 to 100.127, or 172.16 to 172.31, your provider most likely shares one public address between many customers, and sites can flag it as a proxy. A restart may not give you a clean one then.

  4. Set DNS to automatic

In your router and on your device, set DNS back to automatic and avoid custom DNS servers for now.

  5. Change the router MAC address (advanced)

In the router settings, use Clone MAC or set a new WAN MAC address. Some providers then assign you a new address.

  6. Factory reset the router (last resort)

Hold the reset button for 10 to 15 seconds, then set the router up again from scratch. Keep your internet login details at hand, because you may need them again.

  7. Test another network

Try mobile data or another Wi-Fi network to see whether the problem is only on this connection.

  8. Ask your provider for a public IP address

If nothing above helps, or your address is shared, ask your internet provider for a public or fixed IP address. This is usually the most reliable fix.

Still Blocked?

If you went through the list and still see the message on your normal connection, tell us and we look into it. The quickest way is the Contact support button on the offerwall message, because it fills in your user ID for you.

  1. The message you see

Copy the text from the offerwall, or describe it.

  2. Your device and browser

For example Android with Chrome, or Windows with Edge.

  3. What you already tried

Which steps on this page you did, and whether mobile data shows the same message.

Connection Help: FAQ

Short answers for people who earn on sites with the Sharklio offerwall.

Why are offers blocked on a VPN or proxy?

Advertisers pay only for real people in the countries they target. A VPN or proxy hides where you really are, so advertisers reject those completions and the reward would be lost. Showing this message first saves you the time.

I am not using a VPN. Why do I see this message?

Some apps and networks send your traffic through another server without you noticing, for example a security app, a browser feature, or a work or school Wi-Fi. Go through the list on this page, or switch to mobile data. If the message still appears, tap Contact support on the offerwall message.

The offerwall says Network not supported. What does that mean?

Your connection does not look like a normal home or mobile connection, for example because of a VPN, a cloud or remote browser, or some work and school networks. The steps on this page fix it too: turn off any VPN or proxy, or switch to your home Wi-Fi or mobile data, then tap Try again.

Will I lose rewards I already earned?

No. Rewards you already earned are not affected. You only need a normal connection to see and start offers.

My home internet is flagged as a proxy. Why?

Some internet providers share one public address between many customers, and sites can then treat it like a proxy. An address can also be flagged because someone used it before you. Restarting the router or renewing the address usually gives you a clean one, and your provider can give you a public or fixed address if it keeps happening.

How long does it take after I turn my VPN off?

Usually a few seconds. Close the offerwall, open it again from the site, and tap Try again. If it still shows the message, wait a minute and try once more, because your new connection can take a moment to update.
